Magical Transformations

On my to-do list is more sampling for an upcoming exhibition. I'm looking for movement - lots of it - and what better way to get that than with collapse weave. This sample is to do with colour placement and how to use it to the best effect.

The first two photos show the piece on the loom. It's pretty ordinary, and that's OK! I've split the warp so one side has 6 colours alternating, while the other side has stripes of colours.

The final transformation comes in the finishing of the fabric once it is off the loom - and I'm super happy with it. As I had initially thought, the stripes are working really well, with small pools of colour coming and going along the length of the warp. I love the depth of colour in the 3rd photo, although I'm quite liking seeing the meandering path of the white weft in the final photo.
